CRA Chapter 20

Should not touch

After making the proposition, Fuya expectantly looked at the surrounding people, however, the staff were all too shocked and failed to respond.

Taking their silence for hesitation, Fuya added. “You don’t have to see this as a reward, I just want my Peipei to live in a more comfortable environment.”

She did not lie, it was indeed one of the reasons.

The cubs’ living quarters, or the so-called cub house, was the most important building at every nursing club. It was there that the cubs spent all their time and in order to improve the cubs’ daily life, it was of course necessary to construct a well-equipped and high-quality cub house.

When the surrounding people finally came to their senses, they accepted her proposal and discussed it in more detail. The current cub house had in fact many shortcomings and after talking, they decided to simply build a second house.

Everything moved along smoothly and an independent architect, hired by the kuhti cub’s parents, soon showed up at the Yunbao branch.

Fortunately, the property owned by the president was large and their club had a lot of open space to use.

They decided to put the new building next to the old cub house and for the following days, Xie Luan discussed the new house’s design with the architect.

Not long after, the construction team arrived and after confirming that there was no problem with the blueprints, the construction started.

Compared to the last time, this construction team used some kind of soundproofing device and it was much quieter. No matter how much noise they made, it did not disturb the people next door and the cubs had no problem sleeping.

As the entire construction process was silent, Xie Luan almost felt as if the new cub house had magically appeared out of thin air.

The new house was a second storey villa, with the first floor being where the cubs spent all their time. The overall interior design was very warm and bright, they had used many different warm tones to bring out this feeling and naturally it also had a touch of childishness to it.

The living room was especially spacious and unlike the old house where they could not let the cubs play freely all at once without risking them hurting themselves, they now had enough space to have many different toys and let the cubs play happily.

Hence, even when the weather was bad and the cubs could not go out and play in the courtyard, they would still be able to move about and get enough exercise while indoors.

The living room floor was also covered with a soft carpet to add cushioning when they ran around and potentially tripped.

The hatching room in the new house was built on the second floor. In order to minimize the space being taken up by other things on the first floor, an additional storage room was also put on the second floor to hold the spare materials.

There was still a smaller storage room on the first floor, but it only held daily necessities and was not as large or as full as the one in the old house.

Although higher quality, the rest of the facilities were rather similar to the old house. However one of the biggest differences was that according to Xie Luan’s request, an indoor pool had been built in the new house.

Xie Luan installed the previously purchased water temperature regulation device in the new pool and then brought the mermaid cub from the small pool to the slightly bigger one inside.

Since the mermaid race originally lived in the ocean, Xie Luan had considered that an outside environment might be more comfortable for the mermaid cub. But if the pool was indoors, the mermaid cub would be closer to the other cubs and the cubs who could swim would be able to play with him in the water.

As Xie Luan had felt that it would be too lonely for the mermaid cub to be separated from everyone, he had ultimately decided to build a larger indoor pool first.

After carrying over the things that needed to be moved from the old house to the new cub house, Xie Luan and the other employees brought the cubs to the new house.

Entering the new house, the cubs curiously raised their heads and looked around. This new place was much more beautiful and cozy compared to the old one, the cubs were very excited and happy.

In the upper right corner of the living room stood a beautiful wooden structure that caught one’s eye. It had three different levels and at the top stood a cute little house that could be entered. Xie Luan had especially acquired a carpenter in order to build it and was quite satisfied with the result.

In the room were also several climbing frames of different shapes and outside they had two different sets of swings and slides. The trampoline and seesaw were still in the process of being built but would arrive later.

The large playground he had in mind could not be built for the time being. But Xie Luan had managed to make a smaller playground outside the new cub house that he had based off the playgrounds he had seen in his original world.

Right now the playground was just slightly better than what people might have in the garden for their children, but taken into account that they also had other toys for them, Xie Luan felt that the cubs certainly would no longer be bored.

“Do you like this new house?” Xie Luan brought the cubs to the living room and squatted down beside them. Reaching out his hands, he touched the nearest two fluffy cubs and softly said. “You are going to be living here from now on.”

The takila cub, who had been touched by the youth, issued a sound and looked up at Xie Luan, his short tail slightly swaying in excitement.

The cubs had never seen such a place before and in the beginning did not know how to play. But curiosity was the nature of cubs and after exploring for a while, they soon found the new toys’ purpose and happily played with them.

Even the Kuhti cub’s group had managed to find the wooden structure in the corner. They appeared to really enjoy themselves as they moved between the floors, inspecting every inch of it, however, they seemed a bit hesitant about entering the house at the top. Ultimately, the kuhti cub braced himself and bravely took the lead, and soon the two other cubs followed him into the little house.

Xie Luan was observing them and when the kuhti cub curiously stuck his head out the little window and met Xie Luan’s eyes, he happily called out to him, showing how much he liked it.

Seeing that the kuhti cub liked it, Xie Luan smiled and then moved his eyes to the muka cub who was still standing motionless by the side.

The cold and fierce looking muka cub had not moved at all, it was only his red eyes that wandered as he quietly watched how the other cubs explored the new place and all its toys.

Xie Luan walked over to the muka cub and put his right hand on the other´s cold scales, he then raised his head to look up at this seemingly dangerous creature.

“Nick.” Xie Luan gently stroked the muka cub and called out to him.

Xie Luan had named the Muka cub “Nick” and after having heard it a few times, the muka cub knew that when Xie Luan said it, he was calling him and no one else.

Seeing the youth move forward and then turn around to wave to him, the muka obediently followed.

Xie Luan led him outside to the large swing. The muka cub did not move to explore the swing and instead stood still and looked at the youth that had brought him there.

The mukas were not completely unintelligent, it was only when compared to the other evolved races that they seemed to have lacking intelligence. If for example compared to a dog from earth, they were much much smarter.

When Xie Luan pointed to the large swing next to them and patted him, the muka cub immediately realized that Xie Luan was giving him permission to touch it.

But… How does one do it?

The muka cub carefully touched the swing with his foreleg and watched as the swing swayed back and forth from his touch.

“Baby, you should sit here.” Xie Luan patted the swing that was hanging from the chains and patiently taught the muka cub how to use it.

The muka cub approached the swing once more but hesitantly stopped in front of it. He turned his head and glanced at the cubs who, on smaller swings, were being pushed by other caretakers not far away, he then looked at the hemispherical chair in front of him.

The large swing had actually been specially prepared for the muka cub and after seeing that the cub had successfully climbed onto it, Xie Luan began to gently push the swing.

The muka cub had never experienced anything like this before and he made a low humming sound in his throat as his scarlet pupils unconsciously tightened in excitement.

He seems to like it.

Xie Luan felt relieved at the discovery and couldn’t help but smile.

It turned out that it was not that the muka cub didn’t like to play, he just hadn’t known how to.

After getting familiar with the new house, Xia Qi took in the sight of the cubs playing happily in the living room and couldn’t help but say with a happy expression, “Although it’s not as good as the top-ranked clubs, our branch is definitely better than the standard nursing club.”

Several people nearby heard her words and thoughtfully nodded in agreement.

Compared with the general nursing club, their club must be better.

Looking at this new cub house, everyone at the Yunbao branch sensed that lately their club only kept getting better and better.

Particularly those who had seen its original old and shabby look felt that the club had massively improved.

They felt that if they continued to develop as smoothly as they had, then sooner or later, their club would certainly reach the highest rank and become the best club in the interstellar!

Most of the cubs were still playing, however, the white fluffy cub with two small horns on his head rested contentedly in Xie Luan’s arms.

After Xie Luan had played with the muka, the nox cub had jumped up and occupied Xie Luan’s arms, using his small fluffy tail to half-hook around Xie Luan’s wrist.

Xie Luan did not have any special feelings about the nox’s habit of half-hooking his tail around his wrist and did not put any meaning into the action, neither did he mind it.

The tail did not hinder him, when he wanted to do something, the tail would automatically withdraw and when he put his hand back in the original position, the tail would gently half-hook around his wrist again.

Xie Luan was already used to this and seeing that the nox showed no signs of wanting to leave his arms anytime soon, he did not feel troubled. Freeing his hand, he used it to touch the fluffy tail that had just been wrapped around it.

“Meah~” After making this sound, the fluffy cub in Xie Luan’s arms unconsciously tilted the tip of his tail and made a low humming sound in his throat.

The nox seemed to like it very much when he touched his tail, whether it was in the cub form or…

Recalling the beautiful silver tail that he had touched once before, Xie Luan cut off his train of thoughts.

It was one thing to touch the tail of a cub, but to touch the tail of the silver-haired nox in the adult form, was an entirely different thing.

It was probably the obvious difference between the two forms that made Xie Luan feel that the beautiful dragon-like silver tail should not be touched.

Translator’s note:

Ahh, I have had so many exams this week, but I made it!!

I managed to get this chapter out according to schedule!

Many thanks to my editor, Orphire, for putting up with the stress-written text and helping me fix it. ♡♡♡

I still have many exams up until Christmas (they somehow felt that jamming them all together close to the end made sense????) I will try my best to keep translating but if I reach my limit, I might have to take a break…

If I do, I will notify you here on my blog, but as of now, I will fight on.

Now for something fun:

I use Pinterest to find pictures for this story and lately I have been addicted to the “Humans are weird” -posts that keep popping up in my feed.

Luckily our alien cubs liked to play with the human toys, but what if they hadn’t?

(I know there might be a chance it’s just me that enjoy the alien posts, cough, my friend doesn’t like them, but I can’t help myself from showing you these posts I recently found, especially the first one. o(≧v≦)o )

  1. Hello translator, I just wanted to know if all the bl novels here on nu wold be deleted. Because china just banned seld-republished lgbt novels :'( and I would loke to know whther the nobels that we love in nu would also be affected. I am deeply saddened by that news.

    1. It’s truly horrible.

Liu Tianyi, who is a fellow fujoshi and a chinese BL novelist, has even been arrested and sentenced to TEN YEARS for writing and selling BL!!!

It’s outrageous, I mean, a man who kidnapped children in China only got eighteen months, even rapists only usually get at most three year and that is if they are even convicted.

It’s so sad to see how homophobia and sexism still is deeply rooted.

(I include sexism because females use BL to free themselves from society’s pressure and practice sexuality through, what is for them, a non threatening way, aka no females in the novels means no sexism or females being degraded through sexual actions. The characters are unconsciously often also seen as more gender neutral, a safe vessel they can relate to and experience the novel through. + It clearly shows that they think writing BL is worse than rape which is saying something about how low they value women, as the majority of the victims are women.)

BL couldn’t possibly pose a threat big enough for her to get ten years for selling seven thousand copies. It has even shown to help men find out their true sexuality which means that they won’t have to live in pain, not know what is wrong, and as said before, it also helps women cope with society’s norms.

Ultimately it basically improves everyone’s mental health and would actually benefit the country as people will work more effectively if they don’t have to go through their life depressed.

Oh sorry, I just realized that I got sidetracked and wrote a lot….

I was going to handle it more elegantly and you can see in the beginning that I’m composed but then I remembered how our fellow fujo got harmed and I lost it, and went into rant-mode, sorry…

To answer your question, I’m actually quite uncertain myself. I think it’s as Cookies says, that it’s only the tasty part that upsets. But I’m unsure where the line currently is drawn, I mean this novel has a tasty part later but it’s not very descriptive, probably censored because of China’s strict laws. It wasn’t written too long ago so hopefully the author wrote the tasty parts while aware of the current law, so this novel’s raws won’t be taken down from the website I’m using.

(By the way, I’m planning on fighting the crab and writing a more descriptive tasty scene for those who want, I won’t replace the current one, just make a longer version available.)

Anyway, as long as the translators does not have to follow Chinese law and their country doesn’t have as similar one, I think the already fully translated BL:s are all safe. (Even, if NU have to follow that law and remove all BL, they will still exist on the translator’s website) So assuming that the translators don’t have to follow such a law, the only threat would be to the not yet fully translated novels whose raws might get deleted.

If a translator feel uneasy, they can save all of the raw offline as a safety. I don’t think that this novel is highly likely to get deleted but I’m planning on doing that just in case, however it will take a while as there are 130 chapters…

Anyway, I apologize for making such a long comment and I hope my rambling might have given some kind of answer to something. Feel free to oppose if I said something wrong and/or to add onto the information pile. ( ^ω^ )

      1. omg… this is the sadest news that I have ever heard… (cries). I am worried about the future.. BL is my life… (cries). I really hope that the effect of this new law only makes things better instead of worse, like more writers going global for a broader audience than just china, and also more Internet novels that aren’t under such restrictions. maybe all of the BL authors will move from China to somewhere better where they sell even more books and continue writing, even hire translators for multiple different languages. If I was a writer and I found out about this law…. I would definitely move somewhere else. the age of technology is the best place for them, with a vast global communication network where all of their fans are waiting for them.

      2. The authors either need to move to America or start a secret website organization for BL lovers. China has great items they make, but not so great laws that are based off of old traditional, narrowed, mindsets. .

      3. BL is my wife in my life and this news just makes me feel devastated and I feel like the world is ending. I hope in the end this situation will improve in our favour. Good luck on fighting the crabs!
I’ll be working in the shadows!
(A.K.A. emotional support and just general support for our community)

      4. Jesus…China is just…and things just keep getting worse not better. *sigh*

NU has a dotcom addy so the servers should be in The States. And people probably have backups. I know there are aggregators around that drive translators mad, but they have a good portion of things.

      5. I think it’s mainly because of the aftereffects of their one child policy. Maybe they got traumatised by the fact that the population in that generation was so low and if they add the fact that bl stories promote mxm or fxf relationships then there would be even lesser descendants despite changing the limited child policy. We can already see from cn novels how much they value having descendants. Even if females are now being accepted as inheritors of their business, the recent generations are now more used to thinking to live their life first and get married at their 30s-40s which maybe worries the older generations who have lived a different era from them.

Of course it’s horrible that they jailed a writer for 10 years while rapists and other get lesser than that despite harming an innocent person but, maybe, in their perspective, the rapists harmed just a limited number of people while the bl writers literaly harmed the future of their whole country as their writings promotes homosexuality and their population in the future might dwindle.

  2. I’m starting to think that the Knox club is ML? Like I don’t even know who’s the ML anymore (´・ω`・)エッ?

I’m so happy for the cute cubs~♡ They get new stuff and a warm and colourful room as their new living space~☆

    Thank you for the chapter!

Okay, seriously! The Knox cub hooking his tail on MC’s wrist really reminds me of the ML from TPWSTKMFFMI! And I just checked the two novels if they have the same author and they did! So I’m really leaning towards Knox cub as ML!

(But I might be wrong! So still stalemate on that one.)

  3. When i see an update i automatically said “Tiuh Tiuh!” hehehe….
Thank you for this cute update.
I wish you have good score on your exam.

  4. I like Humans Are Weird and Space Orcs! i don’t have pininterest, so i usually browse instagram (Tumblr is banned here). This novel has a bit of Humans Are Weird moment, when MC use winter clothes and all the aliens are like ???? lol.

  5. XDXDXD Human is the definition of weird :v even humans think that other humans are weird :3 XD And doesn’t he know that touching another’s tail is a very intimate thing to do? I think I’ve already said that before ahah ^^” thanks for the chapter~

  6. Thank you very much for the chapter~!!!

It’s really sad that they’re trying to suppress homosexuality/BL…

  7. Yessssss an update!!

Oh my, oh my. I’m so happy to see the cubs’ reactions to the new cub house! Especially the Muka cub ? Now he can play as well. Thank you Mama Kuhti ?‍♀️

I’m quite shocked to know about the 10yrs punishment for selling BL in contrast to 3yrs for rape. Sometimes people get their priorities wrong. ? It’s quite sad considering we have lots of good danmeis from China. ? I am forever grateful for the personally written smexy scenes by translators/readers ?

  8. Try asking us for help on homework and stuff. Most of us are teenagers and up and hardly and any kids. Take me for example, graduated high school. I am a free person!!!

  9. I was missing the muka !!!
thank you very much for the chapter and for the translation … loving the cuteness of this story.
good luck on your exams !!

  10. Thank you so much for translating and I had not heard that news from China. ? Hopefully they start to see sense soon and people aren’t hurt as much as they probably will be by this.

Back to the chapter I like the new building and OMG the muka got a swing and a name ? I love Nick. Also it was nice how the author had the kuhti cub being the brave one going into the wee house.

Good luck with your exams and do your best not to overwork yourself. I hate it when they are all timed right next to each other. I love hearing the humans are weird posts (so imo share away ?)

  11. Humans are weird posts are my favorites, I especially love when they refer to earth as space Australia xD

  12. I can’t stop but thinking of Ya Yi’s tail as a pee pee (I know it isnt. (Probably?)). He always get excited when MC touches it. HELP HAHAHAHA
